Basil Lemonade (Real Simple Magazine)

hands-on time: 15 mins total time: 15 mins serves: 8

Ingredients:

1 cup Sugar
1 cup Fresh Basil leaves plus 8 sprigs for garnish
8 cups Lemonade
1 1/2 cups Water

Directions:
  1. Over med heat, bring sugar and 1 1/2 cups cold water to simmer in sauce pan
  2. Cook without stirring for 5 mins (until sugar dissolves)
  3. Remove from heat, add basil and let cool
  4. Strain the syrup into resealable container (discard solids)
  5. Pour 2-3 tsp of basil syrup into lemonade
  6. Garnish with extra sprigs
*syrup is good for 2 weeks if left in fridge
